Learning Intensive coursework
feature three behavioral activation (BA) deep therapy elements of:
INFORM, INTENSIFY & INSPIRE.
The Kolo (Slavic for circle, or folk round dance) trauma therapies & treatment is remarkably effective cross culturally and very collaborative. By changing behaviors through movement rather than thoughts reactivates neurological reward circuitry thus adding to resiliency skill sets.
Behavioral activation (BA) stems from somatic psychology and neurobiology to neuroscience practices and research within cross cultural and oral memory traditions contexts. The Kolo trauma therapies & treatment started in former Yugoslavia region. South Slavic peoples experienced 100 years of war producing transgenerational trauma in three succeeding generations. The Kolo trauma therapies since then has been taken to Africa, Afghanistan, Haiti, India & Sri Lanka.
As we show no signs of pulling back from our violence and policy of perpetual economic expansion, the only unknown seems to be how severe the ecological and catastrophic impacts in the aftermath will fuel self-sustainability crisis. The most vulnerable are the women and children on the frontlines of violence. Vulnerability is viewed as a strength not a weakness and a point from which to mutually learn from each other defining collaboration.
INFORM
Learning intensives are a learning environment whether online, or onsite to international sites for conferencing and collaborating with women on the frontlines. Do not expect a teaching at classroom. Each participant is participating in the learning intensives.
The coursework is based upon the Kolo Trauma Treatment and Training format applied internationally since 1999 by Dr. Danica Anderson. The Kolo Trauma Treatment is on going in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Novi Travnik, Sri Lanka, Africa and Haiti.
These learning intensive programs foster humanity in a direction of sustainability. In Dr. Anderson’s work she noted that within crisis & traumas, the cultural ways and earth based practices resurface to readdress the imbalance scarring the world as we know it today.
The Kolo Trauma Treatment and Training has responded to Sri Lanka’s over two decades old war and Tsunami in 2004. In Bosnia-Herzegovina, The Kolo: Women’s Cross Cultural Collaboration instituted an annual gathering and certified 22 Kolo lay-practitioners in the past decade. In Uganda, north of Lira Town, the Kolo Trauma Treatment facilitated a gender based violence program with the Kolo Trauma Treatment format as its foundational resource. Africa- Chad, Congo, DRC and Sudan are among the global inter-related sites that experienced the Kolo Trauma Treatment and Training. In Afghanistan Dr. Anderson worked with Afghan female youth and female legislative representatives and was able through the Kolo: Women’s Cross Cultural Collaborations org to fund solar powered computers for the only female high school in Nangarhar Province.
Trauma is an embodied psycho-biological process. The kolo trauma treatment and training for self-sustainability is therefore easily integrated across cultures.
Learning Intensive Coursework for continuing CEU credits available. Corporate trainings on Crisis Response Protocols for Human Resources & Employees to termination and lay-off events is available.
